I've started to hate my job with a fiery passion of five burning suns. I honestly wonder if that's just me, or if others have also gone from actually liking their jobs to completely hating them, and from feeling happy and motivated to feeling absolutely miserable every single day.

I wouldn't say I moved from happy to angry, but more so going from invested in my career here to checked out and looking to move on elsewhere. I know expecting a moral core from leadership in a corporation is unlikely, but they've made clear how much they devalue people who literally build the products they mean to sell. I don't have energy beyond the bare minimum to put in to this company anymore.
To the first world nonsense guy -- maybe take a trip to the "third world" and ask people if they want to be in an american company that lays off every couple months and you wont know if you can keep paying bills and groceries soon. A lot of "third-world" employees at illumina too are thinking of moving to greener pastures.
Who let Jacob into the chat... people are 'whining' as you say because of you and your teams mismanagement of an already bad situation.
That sounds like some melodramatic first-world nonsense. 90% of the global population wishes they had your situation. Perhaps if you whined less life would improve.
