Resigning & Vacation

Hi All,

I've decided to resign, but since my next chapter does not start until after summer, i'll be sticking around until then. My question however is, should i burn through all my vacation plus floater days prior to resigning, or will i get paid the "bank" of days unused upon resigning?

You don't get paid full vacation pay in Canada if you resign.
"Vacation Pay: You will be paid for any earned vacation that you have not had the opportunity to use. For each week of your current year’s vacation entitlement you will receive 2% times the number of weeks of entitlement times year-to-date base salary earnings, MINUS vacation already taken (daily rate x number of days taken). For all other earnings, such as overtime, bonus, commissions, etc., you will be paid based on provincial government legislated rates."

You are paid your earned vacation when you resign. That's the policy.

I’ve read the vaca policy before. It’s better to take your vacation. You aren’t paid your full vacation days if you resign.

vacation is earned each day, not in advance by quarter, policy changed a couple years ago. if you have 20 vacation days for the year, 20 / 365 x days worked. So, 90 days into the year, you have earned 4.93 days.

Dude, you seem helpless. Search for the vacation policy. I think the time vests quarterly or something like that.

"Earned vacation, not all vacation, will be paid."

That just confused me. How do i see how much of my vacation is earned?

Earned vacation, not all vacation, will be paid.

Commet: "You won't get anything for your floaters and will receive pay for the vacation days you earned up to your resignation day (if you haven't used them)"

Just so i understand. I should spend my floaters but my vacation will get paid out?

Wait a few weeks and then ask for an IRIF.

Congrats! I'd give it a month, anything could happen. You could get severance AND the bank. Tell no one at work.
