Who wants to start RTO with me tomorrow?

I am so excited to finally get some "culture" back into work. To work with coworkers who can't take a joke and only want to prop themselves up for promotion, who barely speak English too. That's fun.

Can't wait to put on headphones all day since it's so loud. Can't wait to waste time driving to and from work. It'll be great to spend that time in rush hour traffic to think about my phone calls I'm going to make that I can't get done because I'm driving.

So excited guys
We really have needed this "culture" of stress to appease extroverts. It's what is bringing the company down.

A lot of people don't like their coworkers I guess. My problem with RTO has never been the office. It's the commute.

I don’t want to see an id--t manager face that will lay me off soon. Please don’t force me RTO to smell his stinky odors or sharing same office chairs with diarrhea stains.

Which sites have offices so load that it interrupts work? People have become to sensitive to any external input. What makes you think any noise you produce isn't offending others at work or anywhere else.

@af... nice story. You will be a performance release within 6 months and you get nothing. I hope you are spending your free time looking for your next job. No one, including Intel, owes you a career or income. You earn it. Go be a slacker some place else.

Slackers while working remotely will now drink more coffee and water and chat instead in adhoc useless meetings.
Nothing will change with RTO. RTO will adversely affect those who already work efficiently because of such slackers loving to meet and casually chat. Bad decision that will cost Intel dearly.

Even though you are crying about RTO, you will do it. If you are still at intel at this late date you will stay there until they let you go despite all your screaming at the sky.

One weak argument against rto is not attending early or late meetings. If those meetings continue and you are still needed in some ways, in the past, you would be asked to send your status to the organizers before meetings, or the schedule changes. Or you or the meetings are not needed at all in the future.

I'm totally okay with RTO and I'll be in the office 5 days a week, but I'm only doing work at the office none of this early morning or late night meetings from home because part of my team is in different geos. Also, I'm not working weekends anymore either. My labtop will be locked in the office filing cabinets in my cubicle for the weekend.

RTO is not a silver bullet. It may work for some but not others.

I retired in 24. I WFH since COVID. I came into the office a few times because it was demanded. I was the o l one in a conference room, listening in on a meeting thatcould ha e done at home. None of my team was in AZ. They were in CR,India,Oregon. It benefitted nothing. Others may be different

@a5, have you considered that many are not complaining because they "have to go to work now", but are pointing out that since their teams are spread across the globe now (partly due to covid), there's no benefit in working from the office? Many employees have no coworkers at their site to collaborate with, so the end result will be instead of taking a video call from home, they'll be taking a video call from a cubicle. The only difference being that they weren't able to work for a couple of hours a day because they had to commute. There is zero business benefit to this for them, and it's dishonest of LBT to claim otherwise. His stated goal for RTO was to improve collaboration. How does this improve collaboration for global teams? If your cubicle is in Arizona, but your team is in Israel, Oregon, Folsom, and New Mexico, requiring everyone to be in the office for a call is entirely pointless.

The drawbacks are real and if not implemented well

We will have a drop in productivity from those that actually worked harder remote and recaptured the commute time into direct working time remote

The office grind and the office collaboration need to be moderated

When I have worked in the office I have witnessed 2 main phenomenon

Too many People attending meetings just to be seen and adding little value

A dead zone of introverts hiding in their cubes or on headphone eating too much

Makes me wonder if our culture is predominantly recluses anyway…place of work doesn’t change that

Anyone employed before 2020 used to have to go to work, back and forth, every workday. You've had 5 years of work from home for free. Consider yourself lucky. Now, get back to work or find a new job that allows you to work from home. Crying about it makes you sound like an entitled baby.
