Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How can a company force employees to other companies that they were not hired to?

This "rebadging" is most concerning and most worrying. Where are worker's rights? Sure someone can quit but how can a company force someone either into company that they have no interest or to quit with no compensation and in a lot if states no employment for a "voluntary resignation". This is so wrong on so many levels.

This is the same company in which Glenn openly said "Employees are a financial liability". These people give zero f**ks about you. None.

The company has a third option. It can just terminate your employment.
What you describe as forcing you into another company is actually giving you a choice: continue in your role, although with a different company paying you for your work, or you can quit.
Havig that choice is your "worker's right".

There is no union. You’re considered “at will”. Yes, it sucks, and I left the company because of their disregard and borderline dislike of the fact that they actually have to pay their staff. There are plenty of employers who will actually appreciate the work you do and pay you accordingly.

You literally are just a position and not an actual person to the company. Anyone that has been laid off can see in their release documents that you receive show all employees impacted in your area just by name of the position and employees' age listed. Your position is moved with nothing regarding a person with it. You are just meat linked to the position.

With all of the whining and complaining on this site, I would think many of you would be happy with a new company????

Sadly they get around it because severance isn't required by law. So allstate says hey we are offering you another job to avoid paying it. The only reason I think they give severance is so they don't look bad in general but this is a tactic to get around it
