Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

First, kudos to you for leading such a huge team. This is the first time I've gone through something like this. I'm usually a, "see ya later" person but, I've invested so much time and I genuinely like my job. I have a great team, leader...everything. and, other things going on, on the outside, like I'm sure many do. I've updated my resume and have looked at options just in case. I hope for the best for you, and all of us.

It's closer to 9,000 in home office, so I think a reasonable estimate is 600-1000 affected.

Is it empathetic to do this to associates in a bad job market?

I am in a similar position. Even if I do survive restructuring, workload and morale will likely be significantly worse. If you decide to try to stick it out, prepare yourself for a rough transition period.

Interviewing and onboarding to a new company is also challenging but it comes with a pay increase. I'm planning to jump when the right opportunity comes.

If rumors of a third of home office associates will be separated, what does that mean for contractors?!

I have a hard time believing they'll lay off a third of Home Office. Home Office would be devastated and work and support with it. Typically firms target around 10%, and I could see 300-500ish, including partners, directors, etc. without a home. That said, now that the can of worms has been opened, it doesn't mean they won't keep doing it every 3-5 years.

No one knows who, but no one is safe from these “reimaginations.” Rumors are a third of home office associates will be separated. That’s roughly 1500 people. GPs, directors, leaders, and associates are all impacted.
