Be aware of boundaries predators. The following are lesson learned.
Here are warning signs:
- Person have no credentials for the role they are assigned and you are asked to "support" (aka do their work in addition to their work).
- Person does not showed any signs of wanting to learn or to understand. They expect you to do the work for them and inform them on everything including sending them your work output.
- The work asked for is clearly not within your scope, but within his/her scope.
- Everything is urgent, "strategic", or a crisis.
- You are expected to work overtime to meet their timeline, but you question the urgency.
- Information is not shared transparently. Vague requests are made via text after hours. No formal work requests/paper trail.
- They hint at future rewards or recognitions if you do X-X.
- He/she is recognized for the great work for leading the initiative. You are a contributor.
