I have not heard about anyone being let go, but some people say it happened, so I am grasping at straws here. Is there any chance layoffs already happened and it is over?

I got a 1:1 meeting invite this afternoon from my boss. I understand that your direct report boss doesn’t have a say, they’re being told who to fire from above. I’m gutted, have two young children, and living in SD is expensive so losing my income is going to have pretty significant consequences for my family. So sad.

Individuals within the commercial org. have had the mysterious 1:1s put on their calendar.
What is « confirmed in commercial » means ? Is is already done or is it coming tomorrow ?

Clinical solutions, under RnD, received invites for tomorrow morning. I know of several, including me.

Yes, that's a layoff meeting. HR is never on the invite. They just join the room. If I get a 1:1 for tomorrow, I'm not even going.
Yes that is how it works. They think we don't know they are scheduled for tomorrow. Once you join, HR will join shortly after
In reply to the most recent comment, I know of several people who have the same meeting scheduled, myself included. I can only assume the worst.

They have laid off so many HR staff that there is barely anyone left to make the cuts. Normally they are the last to go, but impossible to time as we just keep cutting!
There are only but so many HR folks to do the laying off. It’s be great to get it done in one fell swoop but there is a level of dignity that they are providing by doing it one at a time rather than bringing multiple people into a room and saying “here’s your pink slip”. Try and be patient and know that HR is just doing their job the best they can.
Why isn’t it done all at once?
I know 4 people let go yesterday. There will be more. Sit tight. The ride isn’t over.
Has anyone received official confirmation, or is it still just speculation?
