Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

PIP WITH NO WARNING

Showed up to annual review and it was them bashing me for “work” done years ago. No review or any bad feedback prior. They are the type to fire you and make sure you’re not hirable elsewhere. BEWARE. Avoid like the plague. This place is evil.

@mp That's a lie. I know first hand. Lumen has fired many this last year, for cause, with no severance as well as the inability to get unemployment.

This kid is drinking the cool aid.

This is probably a result of forced ratings, where x% of each team has to be rated below meeting standards. Once a Manager has to give you that rating they also have to put you on a performance plan. It's been that way for a long time, probably more prevalent as revenue continues to fall and that puts pressure on expenses/headcount.

Fu-k you Lumen. All you do is take money off the backs of your employees, customers ,and share holders

For lumen leadership to pass judgment on any employee is laughable. In the last 10 months the company stock has gone from 99 cents to 10 bucks back to 3 dollars, it’s kicked billions in debt down the road! consumer trust in the brand is at a all time low. Bankruptcy is just around the corner! The Lumen Loyalist will soon face the PIP of the real world!

PIP complainers are the same ones raised to get a participation award for everything they do. Can’t criticize their work or else they run to mommy and say “management is not fair”.

“If you are on a PIP you most likely have earned it.“

lol you’re such a sad little Troll!! Go as your mom for some chocolate milk and a hot pocket

If you are on a PIP you most likely have earned it. You either consistently miss your monthly numbers or you are low rated in your job function. They have to justify the PIP for Legal/HR reasons, you earned it...own it and get better.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. Day before 2 week vacation got a PIF that made no sense, then day after vacation ended was RIF’d.

Lumen isn’t a technology company - it’s still a telephone company. Only difference is instead of dial tone they sell bandwidth (poorly). All other technologies are done in a purely reactive manner. Management from first line to VP is a joke and has been for years.

"You cant get your severance if your on a PIP when they layoff. They will call it termination for cause." Not true, majority of folks let go this past January were on PIP at same time. All received severance.

There’s also all the new enterprise leadership that hired at a higher level all their friends from a Canada company and pushing everyone to do the process they had at their old company which adds times for sales and other teams. They are all so full of sh*t and have no clue how to run a business besides adding more unnecessary ridiculous processes and non of them follow the million dollar program of dare to lead

Absolutely agree!

The ship is sinking! management is no longer bothering with trying to lighten the load by involuntary throwing folks overboard as it makes the company’s issues too obvious!

The game is now one of Gaslighting folks who are still onboard by changing the expectations after the fact, Blaming them for customer dissatisfaction with out evidence & inviting the people who question their non factual complaints to seek employment elsewhere as they aren’t Team oriented!

As a recent manager last 2 years I hate to say it get your resume ready and finances in order. Likely beginning of the end. Almost impossible to get out of it good standing or genuine process for resource to improve. This is a tactic from upper leadership guidance to potentially make person go away and quit on own. Less positions smaller layoff number and packages. Right now vast majority of the groups managers are told they don’t have plans to rehire as people leave so easy way to close positions. Don’t have any layoff insights as the planned org changes and layoff areas targeted is now at uptop level and with NDAs as their has been info leak before.

PIP is beginning of RIF. They have to have a paper trail to lay off. Sounds like another round of layoffs in the near future.

Just remember, everything they're doing here is to work against us. We get mandatory training on various "tools" per se, all that says they can "justify" more metrics against you because you've been thru "training" on a particular tool or app they insist you use. The only use for metrics is a tool to terminate people. Years ago heard one manager say something to the effect of metrics help us enhance the best possible customer experience, I heard that and had to puke!!!

It happened to me last year, 11 days after getting a 100% rating on my review. I found another job before the PIP was over.

They are doing the same to me suddenly the work I’ve done for 10 years isn’t good enough. We are understaffed and overworked, and our job requirements are increasing and our pay remains the same. Changing scheduled due to their low staff due to layoffs. Now pip even though we are set up to fail? It seems the are looking for reasons to let people go
