I’m very confused by the leadership decisions and everyone who has been longstanding in this OU seems to have a “dog eat dog” mentality even on the same team. Can anyone please help validate or correct my understanding ? Or add different context based on your experience with CRM?

CRM leadership has turned over and what remains is not the best. You are a number, remember that, and you're just as expendable at AOP RIF time as a piece of machinery or a marketing promotion at a conferece.
It's been said many times before .... a recession is when your neighbor is laid off. A depression is when you are laid off. Every person for themself, there are no friends when in these situations. Compassion for others so long as it does not impact yourself. Sad but true.
It's not just CRM. Everyone is out for themselves. People are so willingly to throw their own teammates under the bus to avoid being one on the RIF chopping block.
Winners take the ball.
As Norm from Cheers famously proclaimed: It's a dog-eat-dog world out there and you're wearing milk-bone underwear!
In fact, they may sell these at the in-house merch store with the new MDT logo.
The CRM culture is very comfortable laying people off.
