Dell, HP Face 2025 Profit Wipeout From Tariffs, Analyst Says

In a note released Thursday, Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring said the reciprocal tariffs were calamitous to the IT hardware industry, given all the hardware products sold into the U.S. are now subject to a 25%-54% import tax.

@a1

I’ve spoken with foreign suppliers very recently. I asked them about tariff policies regarding international deployment. They said there’s really two things to consider: country of manufacturing or country of origin.

So even if you manufactured a product in Japan, for example, you could still face tariffs if since it’s an American designed product because it originated here in the US. The only way to avoid tariffs is if the design and manufacturing process took place in the same country outside of the US.

"does it ship parts from one location to another without going through customs?"

Yes, companies shipping parts internationally, including to the US, must navigate customs procedures and regulations, which involve inspections, documentation, and potential duties and taxes.

I was wondering, HP has locations all over the world, does it ship parts from one location to another without going through customs?
