If you're thinking about getting out and have a job offer somewhere else, do it. Is the EOI going to last through the job hunt with hundreds of other ex-CVX, XOM and Apache employees looking too? I walked away from 6 months salary to take an offer in hand and couldn't feel better about it.

No what you have to watch for is nda it will make it a little harder to find another job furthermore with all the layoffs across the industry we need a prayer
That's the thing. There are jobs available outside Chevron, but most base salary pay ranges are like 2 PSG demotions and may have lower bonus.
I saw the writing on the wall in 2020 and have saved religiously. If I survive this, I'll be in striking distance of F.I. in time for the 2030 ROM. Being left standing or taking a lower paying job outside with ability to save a tenth what I do now would really su-k.
Even if you reamin. The future at cvx is not bright. ENGINE will grow and take more US jobs. It almost feels that this is the beginning of the end for cvx.
I agree with the OP, go now and get on with your new career and new life. A 6 month severance payoff is nice, but it’s only 6 months of your life. It’s small potatoes on the grand scale of things. A bird in hand is better than two in the bush.
Just go and end the unending madness
If I go there will be trouble......
Should I stay or should I go?
The situation you laid out is exactly what I've been contemplating. Do I stay hoping for either a job or severance - all while suffering the unknown? Or do I aggressively pursue a role somewhere else? Even if you're getting a year's severance, it could literally take that long to find a suitable replacement, which means more prolonged worry and stress.
