@ed+1 The Company is under absolutely no obligation to continue to contribute to your medical after you leave employment. But you can forgo it, it’s your choice.

it’s not much but it is free money. yeah sure.

Thanks for the explanation but I remember putting in many long hours to earn it, so speak for yourself, today may be different.

Once you leave the company, you are no longer in the employee medical pool. Your rates as an individual will be much higher, regardless of the provider. CVX does give a small amount - about $100 - thru VIA Benefits, it’s not much but it is free money.

@e7, Why aren't you living somewhere civilized with free medical care? I like free stuffs too.

We could stop sending over 3 billion per year to Israel and 1.5 billion to Egypt (so they don’t fight with Israel) EVERY YEAR. That would be a good start.

Medical care is free in every other civilized country. Big pharma in the USA is responsible for our ridiculous insurance premiums. DOGE will make it worse. He-hey! Ho-Ho! Elon has got to go.

All retiree insurance is very expensive, except for public sector government employees which you are indirectly paying for also in addition to your own.

If Medishare is all that you need, then go for it. Some people live in trailer parks too.

Chevron retiree insurance is very expensive. I’m on Medishare at half the cost.

What's so bad about CVX insurance that other's at other companies don't have to deal with? I haven't had any problems but I use the preferred provider, though. The one at my spouse's company is worse than ours, for comparison so we use mine.

When Exxon takes over. Otherwise Open Season in October if there are changes to the options (which likely would only be cheaper for the company and worse for you).
