Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Execs check on locations..

Alot of western depots are running quite large with managers. Especially in the mechanical departments. Example, check out Roseville, Ca. If you want to make our shareholders money, cut those positions in half. Just have foremen and one manager per depot in mechanical. Unless they just rid the whole craft. Just a thought.

At West Colton, the "managers" have no idea what they are doing and have their favorites which are the guy's that kiss their rears. One of them sleeps every single night in his SUV for at least 3-4 hours and expects us to bust our *ss every night! Why are garbage individuals like him allowed to manage anyone??? All that *ss kissing I guess.

Get rid of at least 3 managers in the car dept in Roseville/Stockton/Oakland. The reg. employees run it anyways. All those managers do is write people up for petty stuff to try and justify their job. To be honest, Josh can have 1 person per shift in Lathrop and it'll work. All he has to do is run a floater from Stockton. The rip isn't usually busy anyways. Nor is the yard. Carmen don't answer phones and we usually lace and run air on our outbound anyways. There is some funny stuff going on at this Roseville service unit. Go check them out Lance.

Not going to happen, Lance loves what's on paper. He can care less about having more managers than reg. union employees. As long as we show him profit, my guys will always have jobs.

Wow. Someone here in this feed is listening. Phones are ringing and managers are scrambling. Calling they're local union reps to see if they can go back to tools. Honestly, once they're cut they shouldn't be able to go back to they're craft.

A lot of the bigger locations are over-staffed with managers. They did a management shake-up a few years ago, some positions were eliminated, and now some locations seem to have more management than actual crews. The smaller locations is even worse. Why do any of the smaller locations need any more than 5 managers, regardless of title? The smaller locations don't need a dozen or more managers at any time for anything. A small derailment happens, and you have 10 levels of management flying around the derailment site like a fa-t in a breeze doing absolutely NOTHING! I think it's time for another shake-up.

Ignorance! Why advocate for any cuts? Railroads is general have downsized tremendously in the past few decades. I don’t want to see anyone losing their job.

In my location, there was way too many transportation managers. Only one of them was really any good. The others were there for really no reason. It wasn't the biggest location, but it ran better when those managers weren't involved.
