Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

I just joined

Not even six months ago. And now I'm hearing that I have a good chance of being laid off? Why would they give me a job just to get rid of me so quickly? I don't get it. I had other offers. I chose this and now I'm regretting it. It feels like they're playing with my life.

FHFA has ballooned up to over 1000 employees with a budget of over a $Billion dollars per year. Their only task is to supervise FNMA and FMCC while in conservatorship. This task could be handled completely by a 10 good accountants. The agency is ripe with fraud and possible corruption.

The situation is completely different now compared to when you were "given" the job six months ago. Nobody knows what's going to happen, and nobody wants to spend the time, money and effort to hire someone, just to get rid of them a few months down the line.

Believe me, it definitely su-ks, but when cuts come from the high level, nobody is safe. Lots of truly amazing people were let go recently.

Hang in there.

First in, first out. That’s how it always goes unless they get rid of the most experienced first.
