Thread regarding Siemens layoffs

Bad feelings

Siemens just acquired my company and I don't feel good about it at all. How are aquisitions typically treated at Siemens? Do they rip companies apart and lay off a bunch of people?

Town hall happened yesterday 11/10 and mention of more consolidation with Altair. So headcount will be revisited. Only good thing could come from this is removing layers of management. At Siemens side too many ineffective managers.

Six months of suspenseful silence, a few surprise offers, and a generous helping of confusion for everyone else, a real case study in morale management. Siemens’ strategy seems to be “move fast and don’t tell anyone how,” which, admittedly, they’ve perfected.

@2ne for what it’s worth, we were acquired by Siemens almost 10 years ago, and about 90% of us are still with the company. The 10% were people that got their payout and left and few that were let go. It’s also notable that we had quite a few people that left coming back few years later. But…if your company is disfunctional in any area (eg marketing, finance), then i’d expect them to puck the top talent and let rest go.

What I mean by confident is that they are so far from being slow and methodic. They will break things if they continue this way.

@ah7 I'll just say, they are way too confident with us.

I've been through multiple acquisitions. Siemens is slow and methodic. They bought you because something you're doing works and they won't want to break that. Upper levels of leadership might be exited but I wouldn't expect many changes for at least a year. And then they'll come slowly and seek integration over extraction

Update: we will be fully integrated. This tells me everything I need to know. They will hold us until we are mainly integrated and start laying off shortly after they have used us.
No thanks.
