It’s looking really dire. Support in the UK is being erased.

@z8+1jqd14y7k Left it too late to leave too, job market is cooked in the UK
tq+1jqd14y7k UK redundancy is not voluntary, it's based upon mobility and ranking and alignment with WAEM.
Very true that this is a UK wrap up, you have to interpret this as the preparation of the agreed in principle sale of the UK business.
Exxon will just operate in 2 countries in Europe ASAP, and it'll probably go there sooner rather than later.
On balance, those let go will be better off, I can't imagine how awful things will be for those left in country, same work to do with fewer people, higher BTC ratio, higher KLTC ratio, fewer opportunities to grow and progress.
May I ask, what was communicated in the UK? I gathered it was layoff announcement, but am keen to know more details. I’m from another expensive country and would like to know what’s in store for us. Would be great if there’s a voluntary program because I cannot wait to grab a small retrenchment sum and get out of here.
What is the Corporation expected to do? UK business is haemorrhaging money in this refining environment. Unions shot themselves in the foot with asking for unreasonable pay rises during the good days (~2022)
The layoffs are so severe that there is no resource left. The culling is along the lines of 6 or 7 employees to one (or none). That, at least, makes Fawley much cleaner for its sale to whomever. The redundancy package was better than anticipated and, effectively, voluntary; they just want staff out of the equation. The cr-p won't hit the fan immediately by which time I suspect the sale will be announced and the rest of the UK business effectively wound up. Fife will be jettisoned as well, no doubt at a loss just to get rid of it.
relocating from Leatherhead to Fawley is a wild take. they are obviously counting with people resigning so they don't need to move their families. and I hope that there will be enough left to force EM to have a proper layoff program.
Decades of experience of world specialists in their field to be replaced by 2 year kids in KL. Good luck with that.
BTC destroys value. Time will tell
Legitimately feel for you all, as someone in the same boat elsewhere in the world.
Today in this company unless you are turning valves in the refinery, your job can and will eventually be done from a low cost center. On the way to that, unless you are in Houston/Brussels/Calgary, etc you can say goodbye. Any refinery that doesn't start with a 'B' will be sold the second a buyer is found.
Buh-bye!
DW wants to make you all suffer to over stuff is pockets. He is a serious wa-ker
