Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Splitting off Quantum fiber will be easy

To all those saying the CO can’t be split between companies clearly know nothing about De regulation, Co location COs unbundled products!

For the better part of two decades we’ve had CLEC Switches in our central offices selling their services over our copper. Lyman can easily sell the residential fiber off to AT&T or any else for that matter, the company and the Union can also transfer employment of the EPTs to AT&T as lumen would no longer need them, then AT&T can hold a Recruiting event, eventually offering jobs the Network technicians with the splicing skills they want! So at that point if a network technician wants to go with the residential fiber they will have to self terminate from lumen and start at AT&T as a new hire until they get their time bridged, under the rules of the contract!

As to split crew room I’m pretty sure AT&T can find some available commercial space to rent just for its self!

Not to mention Lumen would be left with the copper network and carrier of last resort obligations at the state level.

More likely is ATT buys all of the local side for some or all states but the "consumer fiber unit" moniker is just trying to keep it s-xier rather than they're buying a tu-d.

Not sure anyone said it cant be done. Bigger question is who will own the fiber into the CO? Not sure att will agree to be a clec in this scenario. Who will the COT's work for? Have to hire one for copper and one for fiber since it'll ultimately be diff companies and two different contracts. I agree though. It can be done but i dont know if its as cut and dried to do as you may think. Sounds like back when att broke up originally. You could stay with att or goto the regional bell...not that i was around then but a couple old boys would talk about how it was back in the day.
