Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Cleaning out upper floors of the house

One by one I continue to watch long term NM leaders get pushed out the door. Several more VPs and SDs in the last couple months. It’s endless. All this cutting of talent that has been loyal to making NM great continues to shred up the tattered remains of a former company culture that has not morphed into anything of substance.

Instead of focusing on that target demographics why don’t we just start cleaning house at the SLT level. Lots of veteran talent at that level. Purge away there too. Maybe with some fresh top leaders that can bring authenticity and vulnerability which today’s group severely lacks, perhaps the organization will start to pivot in a direction away from the “transformation strategy” that began in 2016.

Being one of them, I couldn't agree more about offshore and onshore contractors. It takes ten times as many hours for these worthless contractors to deliver a low-quality, certain-defect product. HCL, Infosys, and Wipro are all garbage.

I've seen contractors being arrogant and talking back to even AD and Leads. Looks like an NM employee must get used to getting sp-t on the face.

My leadership does not promote NM workers, there is a perception of legacy of thought. This is why we bring in external leaders to the space. I’ve been here three years, my leader said I should leave for 12 months then come back for a promotion. Nm at its finest.

We need to clean house of SLT too many wh1te men still in power. We in ERG’s are empowered to make sure not another wh1te man is promoted at NM. There is a reparation needed for 160 years of being held back!!!!!!!!!!!

...and then they made some of those same contractors VP's, SD's and AD's. look under those names in the org chart and marvel at the lack of diversity in their orgs. then look at their linkedin profiles and see who their last employer was.

Indian contractors lie about their skill set and knowledge. Once they are on board it was already to late to do anything. Cheaper hourly rate does not equate to quality work. Very deceptive practices working with on and off shore contractors. NM gave too much control to outsiders (learnvest and contractors). Now its a sh-t show.
