Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Toxic, lies, deception all over vmware

I thought this is only at SASI BU. But clearly from what I see, it is toxic all over. Managers are working to push ICs out so that they may survive.

I could care less if the survey is anonymous or not.

Those manager surveys are bunch of nonsense and a checkbox in our EPIC nonsense. It’s true no one BUT the manager sees them so it’s true. Higher ups never see the responses!!

I could care less if the survey is anonymous or not. If vpn is required, of course its anonymous /s lol.

I have nothing to lose so I let it rip!

Managers Surveys are utter useless too.
Managers Surveys are utter useless too.

They are potentially risky too.
Be wary when a company sends you a survey request and states:

Your responses are anonymous.
Do not share this link 'cuz it's tied to you.

How d-mb do they think we are?

Managers Surveys are utter useless too. Even says so on Source that the managers do not have to share the result with their managers. So the whole team can essentially say that the manager is a useless piece of bread yet no one will ever know unless said manager is happy to share the result with the business (not that the business cares anyway).

Don’t need frustrated. Employees with talent are not needed in a Private Equity style software company.

The dysfunction is pervasive. A lot of talent departed for this reason not just BC.
Time to start outing the terrible ones.

Imagine how bad the quality will be when the only people left are the
incompetents who boost the ego of their managers by whispering great
glowing things to them, and then proceed to not deliver -- for many many years.

I pity the customters.

That’s why weak managers are pushing ICs out or keeping them occupied with d-mb task. Because it helps with the appearance that they are needed. busy they look ineffective. No one needs someone counting our task. It’s a total joke.

Be sure to complete your survey. My guess is those will be scrutinized by incoming leadership.

I'm actually not sure why we have managers why not just role up to directors and do away with that layer. It's not clear to me what they add.

Complete nonsense - managers with too few employees will be cut so bigger teams make them more relevant. Just accept there are managers that are not good appointments or are just struggling to manage in the chaos right now.

The managers don’t know what is going on any more than you do (a select few very senior leaders will but not at a BU or GEO level)

if you see a path to earn money or vest stock or even god forbid stay post acquisition then stay. If you don’t then nothing is keeping you from going elsewhere.

Way too much scare mongering going on when lack of news means folk are making stuff up.

It is just the breakdown of society, get used to it.

Ummm. If Managers push out the ICs, what/who are they going to manage? Seems either illogical or incredibly short sighted.

HR is terrible. Zero value. Those investigations are a whitewash. Swept under the table. You leave and that self corrects their problem. But the others come along and the same challenged leaders injure them too. HR never wants a paper trail in case you sue them after they d|ck you over.

vmware, the company, is an hr issue.

OP: True. I finished my week with this sentiment. It makes me sick to my stomach to see how employees are being treated. Like the worse Walking Dead episode. If my entire bu had to go into the office I’d be scared to go to work. Things are out of control.

If you are experiencing these things advocate for yourself. Use the third party anonymous reporting tool, report it to hr directly, document, or leave. Hr won’t do anything but if something adverse happens you have a paper trail to make yourself whole. Reddit has an employment law sub that is useful.

This company is unwell.

There’s a manager sending out inappropriate pictures to females and they’re about to promote this trash to vp.

It is certainly much more nowadays. Managers are working hard to flood ICs with unnecessary and unjustified work. To push them out.

There was story here that a manager in CIBG publicly called out the GM as lying.
So, not a big surprise....
