Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Initial Planning Stage

Does anyone have any actual insight to when the planning for this reorg started? I work at Chevron, not an outsider trying to he funny here. I am just genuinely curious when this planning started and how long people in our organization has known this was coming. For Christ sake, we take 2 years to plan a well, I'm sure this had to take at least since Covid to be planned out.

The board met in February 2024 and had a presentation from one of the consulting companies on how heavy CVX is compared to peers, so assuming that they had a contract and access to the organization with 6 to 9 months to investigate, review, and create the recommendation, plus some time for contracting and scoping, I’d assume this has been in the works since February 2023.

Well, MW bought his luxury Houston pad in June ‘24, so clearly the plans were hatched well beforehand (purchase is public info BTW)

They started planning this one in 2015. The ~2020 era ones had been in the making since about 2010.
Currently we have a team getting started on the 2035 reorg.
