Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Leaving Nielsen; the workplace has effected my health for too long. Will I get severance?

Looking for advice. I've been with NIQ for 2.5 years now, in person work. Management, the exec's, etc. have been horrible and it has effected my health deeply to the point where my mental health took a toll and consequently the stress has caused my physical disability to flare up and I've been experiencing chronic pain from it for months now.

I'm looking to leave the company willfully to focus on my health and find a different job. I have a connect in the legal department who knows of my woes (we've launched internal investigations because of the toxicity I experience in the work place), and has asked specifically how they can make my job better.

If I ask for severance (with this connect knowing of my situation at the company), what are the chances of me getting severance? How much should I expect, a few weeks salary?

They’re not going to give you severance to quit. They don’t care about your situation. This is a company that is currently dismantling itself. They don’t care.

If you currently have a medical condition that could qualify as a disability to perform at work, going out on short-term or long-term disability would be your best alternative. You would draw money from the disability pool until your doctor releases you for work or until you can retire, or whatever. If you go back to work, you could then either let them lay you off or resign then. Just a thought for you, NIQ or Nielsen.

I doubt it. I was with the company many, many years and eventually had some physical issues as well as family issues to deal with. THEY DON'T GIVE A CR-P. NO COMPANY DOES.

I know of many who have gone to HR and held meetings with directors even. No one has had any assistance or retribution. You will not get a severance unless you’re laid off. You can document all if you’d like, but unless it’s racial, gender or s-xual discrimination you won’t have even a salary to work with financially. And that’s after it’s been in the courts for at least a year. Not minimizing your mental health. It has been an ongoing complaint with many at Nielsen. If you do get laid off you have only been with the company a couple years. They may give you 3 weeks to round up.

Sir, this is a Nielsen layoff thread. Not a NIQ quit thread. Two different companies, two different situations.

Document EVERYTHING in real time. With a timestamp using your personal computer in documents daily is one way. Names, events, what happens, who you talk to in good faith to resolve, etc. Save applicable work communications per policy and write down where saved for future legal discovery. File complaints per company policy. Document document document. Good luck!

I don't think you would get any severance if you quit. You would need to sue them and get a settlement.
