Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Layoffs galore

Imagine how many layoffs it’ll take to pay for the latest, totally unnecessary acquisition. I don’t doubt for a second that we’ll be the ones sacrificed for it. Why is this even happening? Can someone please explain it to me, especially when we’re already $40B in debt?

Like most things, I don't think we'll ever reach a consensus. However, I think one thing that's astoundingly clear is that we're all unhappy that they're impacting our livelihoods.

I feel like no one in these comments will be happy. If Pepsi doesn’t do any innovation and focuses on the core business then people complain that they aren’t keeping up. If Pepsi innovates, nothing is good enough and money is being wasted by ‘r&d and marketing’. If Pepsi purchasing companies that already established and resonate with new customers that we don’t have then people complain about who’s going to pay for it. Bottom line…traditional sales are declining. People want healthier drinks. The economy is sh---y. Our products are expensive. Everyone here is complaining but what are the solutions besides pointing fingers and laying off someone other than yourselves.

Frito's idea of innovating is creating a gross new flavor of Lays or Doritos and then shrinking the bag and raising the price

I foresee another year with dismal raises and low performance scores. It’s an attempt to force people to leave and not having to pay out severance.
Pepsi can afford raises but they choose not to because they couldn’t care less about employee morale or retention. The savings is more important and it is a clear choice senior leaders have made. Actions speak louder than words. Do not buy into propaganda or the runaround about org health issue resolution.

If PepsiCo can’t grow organically, it might be time to reduce headcount in R&D, marketing and other innovation teams. The number of headcount in these groups is reason why bureaucracy is ridiculous. Better invest in field teams than so called corporate squatters

PEP can't grow organically or through innovation, so they are trying to buying revenue. A lot of poorly managed companies try this trick, IBM is doing the same thing, buying companies here and there in a desperate attempt to grow their stagnant revenue, IBM is now $60B in debt. And usually most of these companies they acquire they end up putting out of business.
