How is IBM one of the ten best employers in the country? Does Forbes get paid to put companies on this list? I know it's still last year's ranking, but seriously? How?

From a disclaimer at the bottom of the article: "As with all Forbes lists, companies pay no fee to participate or be selected."
From a disclaimer at the top of the list: "Listees do not pay a fee for placement on Forbes Rankings. Listees on this ranking highlighted in color have paid a fee for enhanced features on their corresponding profile."
Maybe no outright fee is paid but likely Forbes receives some form of compensation somehow.
OP is mistaken. IBM is on the list but not in the top 10: they are at #50 out of 701 total "large employers". Still though, to be anywhere on the list is farcical.
