I was laid off in March after 40 years -- as my reviews have all been extremely positive I feel is age discrimination.

Even if you received awards, stocks awards and bonuses lately, it doesn’t mean your job is safe: IBM uses this tactic to make employees happy before the storm ; I know it from personal experience

Data and AI portfolio. Golden Circle earner. I am 2 months into my 3 months FMLA (paternity). I return to work on the 15 of April and my last day is May 15. 3 months severance offered. Nevada. I was in shock when I was called and laid off during FMLA. Seemed like an easy pick when someone is gone and definitely feel discriminated against. Band 8.

There are no internal jobs posted (maybe 130 worldwide) and most project work is already booked. There is no backlog. IBM will have to buy projects and profits via mergers the next 9 months just to show a modest loss

Any idea if all layoff notifications will be completed by the end of this week, March 21 ? Or do you expect more to come in the next week, March 24-28?

I wouldn't waste too much time grieving over what happened. You have to be fed a pack of lies at your layoff meeting to lower your self esteem and self-worth. That's what Alvind and the Pipmunks management excel at. The reality is the corrupt Management are failing and failing big time to capture any hi tech market any more. Nothing works. Even the storage market where they put in a lot of resources and effort and were dominant in, is escaping them. I would spend the 1 month looking for something outside IBM, this company is more toxic than the hottest Vindaloo curry !

Rometty thought IBM would be around for another 100 years, but I don't give them even 10 years at the rate they are burning cash. Alvind can run, but he cannot hide....things have a way of catching up with corrupt crooks like him. Even with a 100 million dollar bonus!

Texas/Storage/Band 9/1 month to find internal and 3 months severance. Last Month manager said he was glad i was staying a few more years as they needed my skill set, only to tell me today because I was a Band 9 and poor performer, they don't need me.

USA/TX/Sales IT/Cloud CSM. Band 9, 16 years, voted top employee of the year in my division and has always had exceptional reviews and Q2Q performance. Also gave me stock to stay with IBM not long ago and all I received is 1 month to find a job internally and 3 months severance for 16 years of blood, sweat, and tears. Top performer for nothing. Never been more blind sighted in my entire life.

The fundamental question to ask yourself is: can my job be done somewhere else?

If the answer is Yes, which is true in most of the cases, then you are a prime target to be replaced in India or in a low cost area, for a fraction of the cost.

It happened to me on 3/17 and my leave date is 4/17. They have completely laid off my entire division with the exception of around 3 people now. My boss said he has no idea how they are going to do the work I've been doing since no one knows how to do it. Then they say something along the lines, well I guess they like deadlines pushed back years.

RTP, NC, SAP COE in CIO Finance, 1 month notice/ 3 month severance
9 years, good perfofmance throughout 9 years

I was told that my job will go to India. Trump has to do something to "incentivize" employers to stop cutting jobs in USA, otherwise his America first agenda is just a lie.

Climate was bad for at least a year after mass layoff in CIO >50%. People who stayed tried to do business in the best way possible.

can you explain why IBM still has pen pushers like Alvind and Krabanuagh ? After all, they do little else but just sign documents, provide commentary to the media and entertainment for the shareholders to get approval for their grossly oversized compensation packages. Any AI bot can do that these days for a fraction of their salaries with no extra compensation packages AND do a far better job than these pathetic excuses for human beings and executives.

CT US CISO Band 10 (the kicker)
26 yrs. 30 to find new job internally then 90 days severance
100% targeted high banded US personnel. Those that were “allowed” to continue WFH were also targeted.
Horrible treatment of employees recently. Everyone is scared. Productivity down. Don’t get me started on security down, risk up

It’s ridiculous. Total witch hunt. And fun fact IBM now can’t mention anything to do with DEI b/c they’re scared of trump. I filed that I had a disability & then the next thing I know I’m part of the layoffs.
