I can confirm steep layoffs in the U.S. especially in the Marketing and Communications function. Targeted towards b9 and b10 employees (likely more seniority). These jobs will likely be posted in Bangalore or Bucarest. Typical IBM. So much for being an American company.
I survived the axe, but a few folks I know in my group weren't as lucky. Downside is no GDP for me this year even though I got a good performance review. I'm a few years away from retirement so I hope I can hang on until then and survive a few more of these "march purges". Good luck to anyone impacted.
@dy+1jpj8mm5e It was scary. But you know, I immediately posted my resume through LinkedIn and have an interview tomorrow. I guess a luck of the draw. Like most are saying...30 days til I leave and 3 months compensation. I was professional on the call and by the voice of my manager they were very sincere. I know firing isn't fun but my manager made it easy.

I have a 1:1 call in 90 minutes. I’m nervous , scared etc. it is with my second line manager. Curious how I may be getting axed when I just received stocks, GDP bonus and higher performance reviews. I can’t believe just like that I may be getting the boot!

What do you think is going to happen tomorrow ? It's IBM Layoff day of course...so be prepared for that morning call from your manager, a special invitation for a 1-1 mid- morning special, or even a group invitation to let you know that the sky will be falling down on some folks. Perhaps F&O, Consulting and a whole lot of senior management crooks will be given their termination orders and walking papers . It happens. Just go with the flow...and may Alvind and Krabanaugh be with you.
