Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

This is yet another departure story

No hard feelings if this is not your cup of tea.

Right now, it feels like PepsiCo is a sinking ship. Many of us are worn out or defeated by what has become our new normal, and in the process, we’ve lost sight of our own value.

After 16 years here, my advice is this: be careful not to fall into the trap of the sunk cost fallacy. Just because you’ve invested considerable time and effort (often at the expense of your health, personal life, and family) doesn’t mean you should stay in a situation that no longer serves you. Instead, leverage your time here to enhance your skills and strengthen your resume. Embrace every opportunity for growth and development, and make an effort to network. The toxic people and work environment are no surprise to anyone reading this, but they can still open doors for you.

Companies are loyal to their shareholders, not their employees. Your loyalty here will not be met with stability that ultimately leads to a satisfying retirement.

As for me, I’ve accepted a position at another company that offers better pay and a more balanced work-life situation (something we all deserve). To those of you who are staying, I sincerely wish you all the best. Remember to recognize your limits, and don’t allow the challenges here to diminish your value or potential. For those who are being pushed out, my heart goes out to you; I know this is a difficult time, but I truly believe it can be a blessing in disguise, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

My heartfelt thanks to the former employees that still post. You gave me hope and courage to take the risk that lead to my new position and getting to spend more time with my family.

Quietly quit. Do the bare minimum every single day -- except when needed - until your number is called, and then collect severance. During the time of doing bare minimum, network and develop your skills further. This is how it's done. If you get a job offer while networking and further developing, do the cost-benefit and see if it makes sense. This is the LOW STRESS solution.

Congratulations, and good luck. More people need to leave. Your faith in the company doesn't mean they have faith in you.

This company’s downfall is the exact reason you shouldn’t be beholden to shareholders. They will squeeze all profitability with short term gains and acquisitions. With the aggressive price hikes and shrinkflation taking place, I don’t believe this company will be viable 10 years from now. Look at how fast Hostess went belly up, PepsiCo is not too big to fail and they are quickly losing market share all while alienating their core customer base.
