Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

What is early retirement at Edward Jones?

I have been hearing that the firm could offer early retirement option to folks near retirement as a part of the reimagine process.
What does early retirement mean? It is not like we have a pension program.

It means that they have you on their list for putting out to pasture.

Be smart enough to realize that this "choice" is not really a choice, but more of pushing you out their door, whether you're ready or not to go.

Their first push is this gentle nudge, where you're enticed with the choice of going for their carrot on a stick of the "parting gift" of severance. If you unwisely choose to stick around after that offer has expired, then their next push is shoving you out their door, with no $, just bye-bye, have a nice life.

If they offer you $ to leave, take it and go.
If you don't, then you'll be tortured with game-playing such as being put on a PIP, or suddenly being rated as being an underperformer, insubordinate, etc.
One way or another, they will get rid of you, and they want you gone NOW.
Might as well make it easier on yourself and get a nice chunk of $ to take with you on your way out.

It means they'll offer for you to retire and recieve a package that will be paid for a certain amount of time (3 - 6 months) to exit your role. There's not much to it, it's simply hey would you like to retire now and get paid to do so.
