Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Collab budgets cut, will have to do an LR

Apparantly Collab just had a major budget cut, esp in marketing. Now there are way to many employees & contractors vs their constently shrinking program budget. If theres no budget to do the things that someone was hired to do... not much point keeping them around. Betting on a 10-20% cut in headcount.

Think the BE will be cut. Sales likely after the end of the Fiscal Year.

Cisco is the pioneer of using VoIP, sell Webex and get our Call manager and IP Phones back.

Webex is a worse version of teams. And massively behind Slack. Organization of groups and DMs is atrocious. It doesn’t refresh background activity unless you open the app, and then wait. Super system resource heavy and slow. There is literally zero functionality that stands out.

Doesn't anyone know that the IP phone is also part of it?

Wait for csco to spin off a lot of useless stuff like collab and san. What they want to do is really build these ML libraries with all of this decades of info and just sell that with common sets of hardware. They can do that with offshore software b-ms and a handful of id--ts like LC and CR.

Could slap a new skin on MS Teams and call it Webex. Wouldn’t matter in the end. Cisco’s four or five dead-end design system teams would still fight over which abandoned, half-built, ‘not-invented-here’ mess to use.

I’m outside Cisco and no longer see Webex anywhere. Cisco never “harmonized” [completed basic functionality in] Webex.

FTFY. As the one of the rare products most people actually touch a lot of people think WebEx is Cisco so whenever I say I worked for Cisco I get an earful of all it's shortcomings.

People here mention Zoom, but it should be pointed out that the founder of Zoom became a Vice President of Engineering in WebEx when it was acquired by Cisco. He attempted to add the functionality that ultimately differentiated Zoom into WebEx but was unable to do so under a corporate structure that can't do development. Throw WebEx on the pile with Umi, Cius, cable routers that needed to be reset nightly because of so many software bugs, the garbage that were Cisco cable boxes, etc... Cisco has a long history of making products that don't interact well with normal people.

Webex is getting worse each day that goes by. It repeatedly hangs on my computer. It doesn't self refresh messages. That isn't right for a product this old. G2 is such a clueless d-mbazz.

Can’t sell Webex since the acquisition team still has them on the list as “not complete” as fully integrated. They’re too busy updating their acquisition power points on how to do acquisitions instead.

Sell Webex and buy Zoom.

All of these statements demonstrate how d-mb people are not knowing how much business Collab does

Time to sell webex and focus on what the company is known for.
