Everyone keeps saying that HR is never on the employee's side and that it works in the company's interest. However, the way that HR works here, is it really working entirely in the company's interest?
Of course, they protect Chevron from employment-related lawsuits, but at the same time, the company is nothing without the right people, and HR is one of the reasons why the right people do not come and stay in the right places. That's just my personal opinion.
