Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Current state of severance

Does anyone now what is being offered for severance now? Recently heard that’s now one week per year of service and that people are on the books for one month.

2 weeks for every year of service. Directors and above get a minimum of 6 months regardless of years of service. Then add the 2 months on top of that so they don’t have to notify WARN about layoffs. So those laid off in late-April 2023 were technically employees until late-June 2023. Normal pay every two weeks. And then in July you get paid out your severance once you sign your separation agreement. Then take a deep breath and be forever thankful that you left because the grass is greener everywhere other than Medtronic. Just look at market cap loss in med tech. Medtronic is rated dead last over the last five years.

The WARN Act has a 60 day notice requirement. Instead of warning about layoffs they pay that to impacted employees. In addition it's 2 weeks per year of service but capped at about one year.

Is it 2 weeks or 1 per year of severance? Asking for a friend.

2 months “on the books” so they don’t have to declare layoffs and 2 weeks for every year with the company is (was?) the standard. I’m sure GM will just try to pay you out in Geoffcoin.

Heard directors get 3 months + the 1 month for every year of service. So typically a year for most that have been around for a few years. They have unlimited PTO
