Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Stock price forced George's hand

Does anyone else agree that the ICs shouldnt bare all the blame for this? At a certain point you have to question the CEO and the VP suite for not understanding the direction of the business. To me it seems that the VP level should all fill out 5 bullet points with what theyre doing for Q4 and Q1. Its unacceptable for us to be laid off when the company is being run the way it is now there is a layoff coming and stock continues to trend toward 90 dollars. 130->90. If anyone should be responsible for that, its the VPs and CEO.

Watch out, @132+1jngtz12w, those logical and mostly positive arguments have no place here on thelayoff!

Netapp will continue it’s decline until Cesar is gone and replaced with an actual sales leader. This is getting ridiculous. His departure will also expose and hasten the departure of at least two talentless lackeys. They will keep chopping out ic’s but Cesar, the chaos king and his microsoft ghouls are at fault for the state we are in. He needs to go.

The layoffs are coming. I have heard of at least 750 due to budget cuts from missing the earnings forecast. Most will be ICs. And all around the world. Cesar will blame the ATS and AE teams not himself. He is a failure and needs to be on the list.

Stock is down like many others, including pure.

It’s just a volatile market is due tariffs talks and other uncertainty. No need to panic, it will settle eventually.

Not saying I like GK or the VPs, but do remember the stock was under $30 when he started. Heck not long ago it was $60. Doubles every 5 years and has a dividend. For a really stable storage company, that’s not bad. Of course companies like nvidia or tesla would have been better investments, they’re also more risk and their valuation is unrealistic.

Just because there was a bad quarter doesn’t mean the company is doomed. Think longterm…my bet is by 2030, stock will be around 200 or higher. If anything now’s the time to buy…the fundamentals haven’t changed and storage is just going to continue expanding along with all other tech.

Of course this has nothing to do with layoffs. I personally haven’t heard of any layoff coming however this stuff is always hushhush at netapp. From surviving many layoffs over the years, I have seen whole teams being let go due to whatever reason like reorg. When it’s across the board, the lower performers are the ones targeted though that could be a tough call on who’s lower or higher when comparing 2 good employees. Either way, if you do your job well, you have low risk…there’s people who have been here 10,20,30 years.

I honestly don’t think RTO + layoffs are related. They’re just wanting people in the office to benefit of new hires and showing lack of doing this or effort made is tracked. Most managers from what are heard are flexible. It’s not so bad in the office and people should just show up like requested instead of freaking out about it.

"It's incredible to see how a large number of VPs and directors at NetApp have destroyed many projects" : Jenny Marshall was one of them and she has been moved out of a sales role because of her abject failure as a sales VP and the toxic culture she manifested. She ruined Spot and Instaultr.

If only the stack ranking performance evaluation process was a two-way street.

It's incredible to see how a large number of VPs and directors at NetApp have destroyed many projects and nothing happens to them while we, engineers sales people, etc are the ones who get laid off. NetApp needs to start chopping at the top.

Remember when George was so upset about the "science experiments"? Well, why fire the people doing the work and not the id--ts organizing the science fair with no vision, direction or leadership?

I agree. It’s time for GK and half the VPs to go.
