Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

Expect a major announcement in a month or two

Microsoft is buying SAS. SAS has purchased more land near campus which will allow MS to build new offices while using the old ones temporarily.

Expect to see some redundant positions eliminated before the end of year.

This will be announced by/at Innovate where the MS CEO will be speaking with Dr G

Microsoft recently pulled out of its AI nosedive so it’s not bleeding money anymore but is now showing a bit of anemia. Doubtful they’d be looking at any large acquisition.

Also:

The M&A and the IPO markets are as dead as I have ever seen them.

SAS has world-class analytics, and wide market penetration.

However, Microsoft is already well integrated with R, so does not need SAS analytics.

Also, Microsoft already has wide market penetration, so does not need the SAS customer base.

Finally, Microsoft buys growing revenue streams. They don’t buy declining revenue streams; that’s not their business model.

SAS is a good fit for Broadcom, or for private equity. SAS does not have any assets that Microsoft wants.

LOL, Broadcom I’d believe, but SAS has nothing to offer a MS.

MS already bought 1,385 acres one hour north of Durham last year. Why bother with SAS land?

Is this fake news?
I don't see why would MS buy SAS. Maybe the land but not the company (software).
