My manager told me a month ago her manager is moving to Westlake. Today my manager gave her notice. Both of them and me are in Austin. Other colleagues here in Austin and in Phoenix have told me it's because they're closing the office here next year. I heard the rumours before but never believed them but this is looking really suspicious. Anybodu else starting to believe this is real?

Do you think they would reopen Tampa or San Antonio?
Austin wouldn’t close, we have lots of employees there. They have invested a lot and Texas is cheap anyways.

Westlake has a whole nother building they’re finishing up (been built for years, but never finished the inside). It would not surprise me at all if they eventually relocated more here because I have no idea who’s actually going to work in this thing.
For context, like 95% of Westlake employees are in office already (other 5% exceptions). They’ve talked about “restacking”, but it wouldn’t make sense to have a bunch of empty seats everywhere unless a) they’re going to be hiring aggressively, which won’t happen or b) they plan on relocating people.
On the other hand, the parking garage fiasco would probably delay anything like that for a few years. Sadly, it also wouldn’t surprise me if they failed to consider that before dropping the news on everyone. Just my speculation

Schwab just announced this past week that they're expanding the Austin office by opening an SPCS/Pinnacle Department in Austin.
Doubt they have plans to close the Austin office when they just announced a new Department opening.
There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Austin will give way to Westlake over time. It is already true that promotions and projects strongly favor Westlake.
Also possible we sell Gracy Farms. Commitments to Texas, Austin and Travis County expired, and demand for office space will increase the value. It's more likely a sale starts as a leaseback.

Whateva boomer. I watched a lotta people put in a "fair day of work" and more, only to be tossed out the door so Rick and Walt could continue to grow their personal wealth. Maybe at one time Schwab had the decency to give people 3 years notice before closing an office but those days are long gone. Now they want to su-k all they can out of you before tossing you out. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't tell people until the Friday before at 4 o'clock.
No. When they decided to reduce their footprint in San Francisco years ago, they told everybody three years ahead of time. If they were closing Austin next year, they would have announced it long before now. As long as you're willing to roll-up your sleeves and put in a fair day of work, you'll be just fine.
