Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Will they increase our salary due to RTO mandate?

I could double my salary if I didn't want to work remotely. If Cisco forces RTO the salary worthy be competitive enough to keep good people. The only ones who will stay are the ones on H1B slavery or can't find jobs anywhere else.

Can every company increase the salaries of people that actually go to work?

it will be interesting to see how RTO plays out

in SBG, the remote folks are all over the place....every state, LatAM, Europe etc

I live near a Cisco office and don't have a huge problem with some type of hybrid schedule, but I'm not going to accept being told to toe the line while someone living in the sticks gets a pass because they aren't in driving distance to an office

One thing is for sure...Cisco will always do the thing that lets them keep compensation low...

Bootlicking boomers come out of the woodwork when people (rightfully) get pi---d off for being told that the computer touching they're doing at home now needs to be done at the office.

And people who worked for successful development organizations that know the value of having a lot of effective interaction. When projects cross geographic boundaries the principals spend a significant percentage of their time colocating at different sites to keep everything moving in the same direction. Do that right and problems get solved correctly once instead of incorrectly hundreds of times as is done at Cisco.

Given what Cisco spends on bug fixing plus what they spend on redundant implementations of the same functionality Cisco would be lucky to be getting 5% from the engineers' effort in unique useful work. The greatest joke is most think they're doing something useful in a bigger sense. If Cisco was in competitive markets where they couldn't charge the kinds of margins they charge to cover this failure they'd be out of business.

You will report to your assigned workspace at 0800 Monday promptly.

You will receive no more money, and like it.

Your best to get right salary is when you join. Many long timers will confirm Cisco salary stays same. Be happy you have a job. Every one else is forcing RTO and laying off those not in compliance. Even Federal employees are required to work from office.

If CISCO really wants you, yes/maybe... Otherwise, they are fine for you to pursuit the "double" pay.

Pretty sure salaries are tied to the COL of your location. If you’re remote then I’d assume an increase if you moved. But knowing Cisco, it would be a battle to get it.
