Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

I can't stand this horrible place!

I know it has been said a million times on here but I hate this place! Been here too long to leave and just trying to survive each day. It's hard to believe SF could become any more toxic but it has. Upper leadership is just the bottom of the barrel and a complete joke of a B team. No clue what they are doing and just there taking up space and scamming policyholders. Doubling down on stupid with more EOM, more bean counting, horrible systems, and more useless time wasted on the same things over and over again for the last decade+. The people they are hiring are an absolute joke with expectations of World Class but hiring nothing but Low Class people. Oil and water do not mix! They are back to blaming claims for all their bad decisions, rate manipulation, and joke of a business model. If anyone is thinking about working at SF or does not have much time in, I would recommend you leave or go to the dentist and get all of your teeth pulled which would be less painful than enduring this place. In office is horrible! I do not want to get to know any of these weird people! Collaborate??? Not! Must be the purple hair, neck tattoos, piercings or weed smell. I care nothing about anyone I work with except for few people that have a clue. Later this year, when SF becomes number #2, I'm going to celebrate and continue to encourage anyone including friends and family to never buy anything from SF. Not helping our useless Execs get another huge bonus or help an agent remodel his 2nd lake house! Tell everyone you know what an awful unethical place SF is!

This post couldn't be more true, this company is like a bad Disney remake that sales 10 tickets at the box office. I can't believe I even work at this sh-t hole. Its a bad dream you can never wake up from.

@52q thank you for validating my experience. I was hired around the same time and it genuinely feels like I’ve been living in some kind of horrible dream. The misleading about the role, the daily responsibilities, the general tone of the department, absolutely unbelievable. They asked if I had a degree for this hahaha. And yes, I look at some of my coworkers and think “I don’t know if you could even get hired at McDonalds, how are you in this building right now?” Massively sc--wed up my life taking this job and now have this weird unrelated resume gap that I have to deal with, in this economy.

The management says we staffed up and correctly for the change of every single “2+ moving vehicles” new claim to automatically be handled in Prop Complex instead of Express. It’s been a huge lie and cluster (surprise surprise) just like everything else they newly put in place. We are not staffed for this by a longshot. Why don’t they understand how much more work they make a specialist in complex do to establish accepting liability compared to Express and Injury? So much wasted time.

I got hired into SF about 6 months ago and this is the worst decision of my life. I thought I was going to a premier professional company....right? It's State Farm with all the commercials in this nice big fancy building! I was sooo wrong, this place is a f-cking ghetto! The first day in training I could not believe the people I was sitting with. Society's rejects and I thought there is now way these people could have ever gotten hired. Smelled like weed! You can tell everyone is absolutely miserable here in their jobs and no-one has a f-cking clue what they are doing! From the stories I hear, the former CEO left the company in shambles and this new dufus JF looks like he should be selling used cars at the local tote the note car place! Resume is updated and interviewing now! SF is a con job, do not work here or buy their products!

The reason there is such dysfunction is because they started the breeding of all about me and take care of yourself as well as it's a business decision. This causes all employees to go in all different directions which end result is chaos. They now have no idea how they will admit they made a sh*t sandwich and eat it on top of that! Sound familiar in other parts of life? The hardest part of the fix is to admit they created the problem. Similar to a substance abuser admitting their dependency. Only they can save their own life!

Even departments like InfoSec, which was once a great place to work, are now as dysfunctional as the rest of the organization. Decisions that don't make sense and toxic employees running the department. Has Execs chasing their tails trying to please everyone and their ultra sensitive egos.

Things haven't changed at SF. Oligarchs and high school students.

The one common theme here is that “everyone but me is useless and overpaid”. That is mathematically not possible, so look in the mirror to find the problem.

The day State Farm eliminates agents will certainly be the day you get to “move on”literally, as the company will be out of business. agents have the ability to hire a team to run their office, you do realize that right scooter? You’re jealousy is super evident. As is your low IQ.

@nb+1. You are by definition the bloat of the company. IMO you are what the company needs to dismiss. Others could use the money better than you. Overpaid and underworked.

Agents are full of BS. Say they work hard. I live around them and know how much they work. They're at home 95% of the time and their staff does 95% of the work. Agents are the bloat of the company.

Let me guess SF Agent.....just this "one" exception, can't we "just pay for it", it's only $3000. Why can't we use all brand new OEM parts on a 14 years old car????......blah blah blah..... They are my biggest client, I go to church with them, our kids played sports together, they are a pillar of the community and I have their whole family insured...blah blah blah.....that's why you haven't reviewed their coverages or policy with them in 10 years and they are "supposed" to have the coverage. Same lying pieces of sh-t all day everyday. Agent's steal the company blind every day they open the door! The day SF dumps agents is the day the rest of the company celebrates and get to move on!

After 40 years as an agent I have ridden this rodeo many times. I have enough cushion to catch me from a mile high drop. Good luck to you though.

Wait for the economy to turn on in the next couple years. Insurance will fall hard.

Policy count does not pay the bills, premium volume does. Who cares if we don’t have tremendous policy growth when premium goes up 15 to 20% a year life is still freaking awesome. Agents are making more money than anytime in history. We’re talking 20 to 25% income increases your over a year over a year. I keep telling you, get into agency. Then you won’t have to spend your life on here complaining.

I agree, the company will die....it will be worth it to see the agent's go down with the ship! YTD growth in auto is just around 26,000 policies!!! LOL!....complete joke Progressive has already added almost a million new autos......must be their wonderful agency force and Jake from Progressive commericials! Clueless.... Agents are just worse used car salesmen!

Ahhhhh, now we finally get it. You are still PTSDing from all the wedgies you got in school from the “cool kids”. Agency will never go away, it may die if the company does but not before. If SF had a better plan to bring in revenue they would have implemented it at some point over the last 100 years or so. Heck, if you want to play what ifs, what is 20,000 agents left and started independent agencies, a pretty fair amount of clients are going to follow. Ask me how I know.

Agents are done and they just don't realize! SF sells a product that no one can afford anymore. The agent is the one piece that can easily be removed and is the largest expense component. Most are complete useless lazy reta-ds anyways! SF has already tried running at 50% staffing and you see how that worked out to the tune of a $27 billion dollar loss! If they don't dump the agent's, the company will be run into the ground in the next 10 years so it won't matter at that point! Losing SF's #1 position in auto is just the delayed legacy of a MT trying to make the "cool kids" aka agents like him and total and complete incompetence! Save those commission checks!

Transition to agency if you can. You run your own show, the way you want. Just be ethical and you have a great income for as long as you want it. Thru February my earnings are well over 100k with 2 employees. I own my office. Be lean and smart and you won’t believe how fast the $$ roll in. I have not seen my manager in 8 years, just a quickly deleted weekly email. Talk about a stress free life😀

I have been in the presence of SF leadership/VP in many situations both business and social. If you think Epstien was bad, you should see what they do! Oh he LL, only a fool would associate themselves with that trash.

If SF and money are your priorities in life, you really need help. If you value your time and quality time instead of loading it up with insignificant material items, you live a healthy and quality life. Don't be fooled by thinking the one with the most toys wins. The one with a quality life without divorce, substance abuse, etc wins. What good is the money if you don't have your health, a quality marriage, and a good home? Seen many focus on money and are miserable in life especially in leadership.

What the person who is waiting till 65 doesn't tell you is the average time a CS lives after retirement is THREE years. That's the average told to me by a VPA and I confirmed. Nah! My health and sanity is far more important than that unhealthy good neighbor work environment. There's more important things in life than their money theor God.

In regards to the OP..... I hear you! I'm 56 and have been here 32 years as a CS. I need to work 3 more years and will be at the max for my pension. I will get $4800 a month for the rest of my life....let me help you understand why we endure this useless h-ll hole! That is $57,600 a year. If I only make it to the average life span of 76, that is $979,200 in pension payments plus the $500K is my 401K, $200K in savings which makes me a millionaire! Not to mention my social security! So the only "loser" here is the person telling them they have a "life of failure"! SF is trying to run people like me off so they can get out of paying what they owe.....opposite of the commercial and what they tell you to your face! Oldest trick in the book, make a promise you never intended to keep! That is why the rich Execs keeping getting richer! CEO pay is up 1400% over the last several decades and worker pay is up 24%! SF is just as unethical as every other company out there! Total scam! F.... SF!

2025 is going to be a year of he-l for employees! U/W is going away, they are about to shake up claims again and get rid of a lot of people. More outsourcing, more micro-managing and just an endless doubling down on stupid! Hold on!

I have told you....your leadership is not to be: believed, trusted, looked up to, think they have morals etc... They are high end organized crime. They care less about you and consider you a disposable asset while embracing turnover while not taking blame for it while they stuff their pockets with your work. If you are honest, walk by them with your chin high and leave their dysfunctional family the first chance you get. Just know many are substance abusers and trust them as such. Don't trust. They are professional liars.

Amen! This places su-ks the life out of you the moment you turn on the computer or walk in the door! You don't think it can get any worse then it does! Every huddle is the same, every 1x1 is the same, and they recycle the same SF propaganda every 3-5 years when they run the company into the ground. Price, Price, Price then Customer Service, Customer Service, Customer Service...... complete joke and some of them actually believe the message points they keep reading! Clueless! Total joke....
