Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Rachal's NA Townhall Today was a Complete Joke!

It was disrespectful to have a town hall where it was a party about last week's layoffs. They didn't have any clear direction going forward to communicate with anyone. The only thing that was clear was we've been losing money for six quarters. No sh*t Sherlock! We'll have a better idea of where we go next, but it's take a couple of months for us to figure it out. (Translate - We need to do some outsourcing before we can tell anyone)

Also, Frito-Lay won't lower their prices and won't consider partnering with private labels to complete. The place is 100% doomed under this leadership!!!

I work in Plano and I drive down Spring Creek Pkwy to HEB and buy HEB chips. I remember about 20 years ago HEB asked Frito to make chips for them and Frito told them to take a hike. So HEB went out and found people to do it for them, and 20 years later, the HEB chips are just as good as Fritos, and cheaper.

A price reduction will result in a ripple effect of reduced profits, reduced executive bonuses and reduced funding for Athina’s parallel IT organization. No price reduction will happen

Pricing always drives more profit than volume

Can someone explain to me how we grow without lowering prices? I think lowering prices would be the engine for growth? Sincere question, please explain.

"Frito-Lay won't lower their prices and won't consider partnering with private labels to compete" I knew a very large company 30 years ago whose "visionary" management said the same thing and they no longer exist. The industries are different, but the management mindset is the same. The management that is always preaching about "change", only because it sounds good, but in reality fails to embrace change and just continues forward with the same old tired status quo business model which clearly isn't working anymore, because it's the easy thing to do. Management is just hitting the big "easy" button.

I left in November too after decades with the company. No pizza. No party. Just a chance to say goodbye at the end of a regularly scheduled daily stand up meeting.

To the poster who left 11/1/24 due to vrp. Same! Office pizza... what a joke... while others received dinner celebrations for family, friends and coworkers. SHAME! if I could do it all again pepsi wouldn't be in my rear view mirror but I'm glad it is.

I left thanks to VRP 11/2024. Petty gripe, received no lunch, gift, don't let the door hit ya, retirement acknowledgement. Almost 4 decades in. For the majority of my time I had a lot of "Pepsi Pride". Within 2 to 3 years the company has lost its ever loving bless your heart mind! IMO the the positive and energetic motion that once was no longer exists.

Hundreds of years of experience moved along whilst offering an ineffective ticketing system to troubleshoot IT, Finance, HR, etc.

Love for my history and positive experiences. I will continue to stay tuned and wish all still employed the best possibly outcome for the future.

The plan is to ride your a-s and blame all of the losses on you. No senior leaders are going to take responsibility. It will all be the fault of middle managers not performing well enough.

The more I read these comments- the less depressed I am about turning 65 in 5 months. Can finally exit this mess. Quaker was once upon a time a decent place to make a living. PepsiCo destroyed that along with pretty much everything else.

A complete word salad and a total waste of an hour I can't get back! I was hoping to learn something about the reorg and layoffs but all I learned was it was the first time in forever we lost market share! No plan on how we are going to make a recovery, no plan on how we compete, no new ideas or healthy products! Meet the new boss, just as clueless as the old boss but we now check the right gender box, thanks DEI. I cannot wait to clock in tomorrow I am so energised by today's town hall of nothingness!
