The other majors are cutting headcount (w/ reorg). Is there any rumor about OXY layoffs?

I am at the end of my career, and kind of glad, other than it meaning I am gettig old. My biggest concern is technology and outsourcing replacing employees. Like most companies Oxy has and is implementing AI, and things like AWS Web Services, and Manage Services, etc. Each has the potentital to reduce headcount, and end up putting employees out of work. I have heard management say on many occasions that will not be the case, but I just don't see how it is not part of the end game for corporations like Oxy. Even if it does not there will need to be mass re-training of staff and some jobs won't exist anymore and the new jobs might need the education and training many do not have now. Is it more like five to ten years down the road, or will it start taking place sooner? Seems the current 50 year old and older employees are at the highest risk. The younger employees might benefit the most from these technology advancements and the new way of working that is coming. That to me is more scary than anything else we have going on in our industry when it comes to jobs.
Cast offs from the majors can be some very talented people.
Gotta make room for the cast offs from other shops. The don't call OXY a bottom feeder for nothing.
Oxy will not layoff, but agree about the PIPS as I just saw one let go before the bonuses. With that said you have to be really bad to get fired from Oxy, or just a total scr#w up. I have seen people abuse their jobs for years and nothing happen. All it does it bring down all the good workers around them. I have seen good workers pushed out with a VSP, and the bad ones kept to pull the rest down for years after.
No layoffs until the end of the year. You get maximum damage to employees when you fire them just before the holidays. Probably 60 days before year end to be in compliance with WARN. Now is the best time to give PIPs to at risk employees so you can get them out the door.
I bet close to 5% would volunteer.
You need at least a 5% layoff to wake people up. 10% preferred. More than that and it becomes a negative. Get some of the fat out.
Almost all companies are for sale and are always looking to thin the herd. You are fortunate as the debt load you carry is so much larger than the amount saved by laying off staff. Count your blessings.

No. Just stop.
"nice try" and "stop b...hing" commenters both work for HR and will be laid off.
Sure, there is a rumor.
