Thread regarding US Foods layoffs

Dave has protection

This is bullsh-t. Layoffs and yet everyone has noticed that our CEO has hired protection police- security for himself. It isn’t even a secret that he has them at his home too with his family . All of the cuts we did and yet we spend money on people to protect his family??? He makes enough to pay for his home and family himself.

Like Garth brooks says “it is good to have friends in” HR places. Mine told me about the “white glove treatment” that was given to his son too. She said she took her orders from “papa Smurf” and rules and policies were dismissed. But trust me. They are not happy with being forced to violate their own rules. She said the company even paid for clothes for him . I wouldn’t and didn’t believe all of this either but she has been with the company for years and doesn’t lie. She also told me they know about this site and that she is happy we are upset and complaining because maybe it will force leaders to never do this again.

This sh-t is for real? Everyone is talking about it at my distribution center but I didn't believe it until I read it and then my HR friend showed me his name on the company email. This is fu---d up!

I read the nepotism definition and the consequences of them doing that are worse than that. If anyone here has similar or more experience and was bipassed for his job, the company is liable. It says that in the definition. That is even more true if the leaders mentioned in the posts traveled to meet him during his hiring and first dates like it mentions below. Or if you can show special treatment not given to others. This would be in the travel and other records. And if the people weren't given a chance for that job or any similar job tied into this executive safety plan is a woman, minority, or person of disabilities, they can lose big in court. I would make copies of the statements on this site for the attorneys.

Yes, same here with a small but biweekly customer and owner of restaurants in the city. I didn't report it to my bosses because I don't want them to think I told the customers about this site. They already knew. I keep wondering when we are going to be told about this by our bosses and given some notes on what to say when we are asked about this from customers because I had 3 already ask and one that is starting to move work to a competitor and eventually move us. My customer asked if I would go to the other company and they are bigger so I applied. Maybe some of my old customers will find out where I went and I could have the best of both worlds. Wish me luck!

Now we are losing business out the back end because of this decision. Sales has to be ultra pi---d because it will hurt their retention rates, organic growth, and their new sales too. The execs just increased all of our targets by a ridiculous amount and now they put this obstacle in the way. If they fire anyone for lack of hitting our numbers , sue them and take this to court.

EVERYONE! Look up the meaning of NEPOTISM. Then look up is nepotism an ethics violation in the workplace. Our CHRO, Compliance, General Counsel, Director of Bus Continuation, VP Ops, and CEO should all stand down or be fired. The VP of Security told some people they shouldn't have done that and that it was wrong but he is still here reporting to him so he should be let go too for knowing it is the wrong and still doing it. He is suppose to be policing this sh-t and he and compliance sat on their as--s and went along with it all. They are all COMPLICIT and you should look that up too. They all need to go. I had a customer ask me about all this during a delivery. He had read the post and told me he really liked me but he won't be ordering from us any more or he would be complicit. He is the one that taught me about nepotism and complicit. I will miss him. He would always feed me and start the day with a hug.

This is wrong. Mr. Flitman, do what's right and move your son out of doing your safety work and make him a truck driver or mechanic or something that would fit his skills and looks better. This is just not right and you are our leader and should lead the way we should all behave. I can only think papa smurf in my HR team told you it is ok but it is NOT. He is not the sharpest kn--e in the drawer. I was a supporter of yours but will not be if you don't correct this.

Close but no cigar. They are in Madrid not Barcelona but the right country. They would not hear you if they were here in the Emerald City with us. But they will hear us at the end of this month with picket signs in our hands. Since they can pay so much to his kid we now want more. We now know they can afford it. Go LU 38!

While all this lunacy is here, our glorious execs can’t hear you. They are having their presidents awards in Barcelona Spain and spending over a million dollars on luxury dinners, travel, resorts, awards and extra bonuses. They could care less what us peasants say.

Are you fu--ing kidding me? I don't know what to say about this sh-t. There has to be one fu--ing exec with a high moral ground and is capable of talking to the others in getting them to do the right fu--ing thing.

Yes , or if the statement posted is by third party comments rather than their own experience. I saw that too and screenshotted the original comment that was removed. It was too easy to determine who was being mentioned as the source because I know her too. She spoke to me about it too and is very sad and frightened about being asked to do what she is doing. It is a huge fiasco and is very unfair for her to be asked to be part of it. Shame on all of you.

I've noticed they do if they break site rules, happened to one of my posts. I'm guessing it's stuff like politics or racism, spamming, naming folks (unless it's the ELT, I think), proprietary info, and similar things. The usual.

Like most of us, I come on here and read but don’t vote. This is my first comment and I am going to start looking too but also going to share this site in my workspace and to some customers. This is the only way they will understand how bad they are destroying our company with this gangster type mentality.

Why are the executives doing this? My time with US foods in closing in on almost 20 years. I had learned to love the people I work with and the need that our work gave to citizens all over the country. For this first time, I am embarrassed to call myself a US foods employee. My customers read about this and ask me if it is true because they don’t want to hire a company that doesn’t value its employees and is unethical. They say if our highest leaders can act this way,! they wont be caring for our food product and sidestep rules there too. Why do such a bonehead move and hire a son to work directly with his father. Why not care for places that have violent events and have an unqualified person that has failed for years to protect us managing security and bonehead. Why bend hiring rules despite of our other employees and their chance for growth? I respectfully ask that a meeting be held between HR, legal, compliance, and the ethics team to make the tough decision of having his son seek alternative work elsewhere and protect our employees in my office and the field and I ask that we hire people with a past in doing all of that and not what we are seeing in these two hires. It is glaring that they are NOT qualified. . Please start acting like executives and lead by example.

My prediction is that he's appointed as the new CEO in 2 --- 5 years. But not without a fight. This ordeal is not funny, I am seeking legal advise to see if anything they are doing violates my employment and civil rights. I am a woman and employee with more experience than his son and his new direct report. I have an appointment Friday and the well known firm said they may take my case for free.

They changed his direct report. Maybe they fired the first one for playing politics and hiring him so covertly, I hope they fire the VP of HR and the compliance leader too for allowing it. And of course the son should be let go or sent to another job where he doesn’t have anything to do for his father. Ethics do matter.

I am ok with hiring one security guard to do it. Anything more than that is fraud, waste, and abuse. That security guard should not be assigned to legal for the same reasons all of you are posting about. Maybe HR or an executive that worked at another company that had security guards for the executives and knows what he or she should do. That experience would help him do it right and give us ease. I will open it for comments…….

And no, no customer, friend , moms, or family dog. Ha ha ha.. We aren’t that unethical. Stupidity is one thing but ethics is another.

Tell you what. My dad bought thousands of dollars of US Foods stock when I hired in 10 years ago and keep buying. If something happens to our CEO and I find out it is because of bad executive protection, he will sue the company for failing to do the right things to protect him. He said former employees would do the same if they have US Foods stock. That is even more true if they hire his mom or dog to keep the money in his family pockets. I will have to keep looking at our email contacts for the words Fido or even our CEO's last name for her. I am kidding in that last sentence because they would put our stock in a bad spot for financial harm and put him in danger. It we really aren't being smart about who and how to do this, they will be sued. They need to look up how that works. My dad is a corporate attorney.

What???? How can we be this careless and incompetent. Don't they know what if something happens to him,, our company worth and our reputation will go down the sh----r. I think we need to protect him with what makes sense but who ever is running this fu---d up plan should be laidoff.

This is some sad but funny sh-t. Out higher ups are known to fu-k up the easiest things. The hiring the wife to do the security guarding to keep money in the family pockets post below made me roll on the floor. They aren't d-mb enough to do anything remotely that stupid but some of the suggestions below do make me giggle.

Then again... Put Legal in charge of security guarding - check, hire security guards for a CEO that don't know what they are doing - check... travel to our marker in california with an elderly looking 4 foot security guy at his side who wouldn't stop a fly ..... check. So hiring his wife with no ELT security experience and no benefit other than knowing our CEO would be the next US Foods leader non-logical move. Maybe they should consider the family dog too if he is a pit bull or mean dog.

Lost in all of the stupidity is that we are using our US Foods cash and putting our jobs in trouble.

Ha ha! Fu-k yes that is a certainty. Maybe they will hire his wife to do the guard work and pay her 90 or 100k to keep more of our money in their family pockets. Or pay for a bullet proof car and home. Trust me they will fu-k this up even worse somehow. I wonder what the poor fu----s that own stock think of these yahoos running this project. What a cluster fu-k. I

This won’t end. In the typical US Foods manner we have all come to expect from our legal team and executives, they will fu-k this up even worse and do something so stupid. There will be even more to write about. They may contract migrants that don’t speak the language to do the security guarding work for Mr. F or hire a guard who they know, they like a customer or friend of theirs. It’s inevitable. If you think of the worst idea, they will choose that. We help you Fake it. I love that slogan. It is so true.

If someone comes after Dave at his house their intent is to cause him physical harm or death. Alarm systems, cameras and motion lights aren’t going to deter those individuals. Those are to scare off burglars & petty thieves

Cemeteries are littered with victims who had alarms and cameras, the police response isn’t quick enough anywhere to stop an attack, they might be able to catch them afterwards

I’ve read articles where other CEOs have at least or more security than Dave & the companies pay for it. This is not an issue
