Chesapeake's operated rig count at peak, or the sum of rigs operated today by EOG, COP, DVN, OXY, PXD, and Mewbourne combined? It's the former. Just shy of 150 in late 2008. That was twice as active as the next largest driller.

Anonymous, I think that OP is trying to make that very same point: the seed for CHK’s disasters was planted waaay prior Doughy, Spiderweb, Nick the tick, Tim the lord of pigeons.
And it really worked out well for them in the long run didn’t it. Not sure what your point is but that was hardly a positive fact.
