Work from home vs layoffs

How many employees will take the upcoming VSP package if the work from home policy is eliminated? Most people in Oxy are already working a hybrid schedule so eliminating work from home doesn’t mean that they have to move. This is very different from those mo--ns who after Covid moved to places well beyond commuting distances.

WFH is great, but I would never leave my Oxy job for it. With so many companies laying off having a job with good pay and benefits is worth more than WFH.

You missed the point. Likely because there were more than five words to the communication.

OXY will probably announce the end of the hybrid working model soon. There could be a number of people who leave when that is announced thereby making a VSP unnecessary. A number of large companies are doing this. I'm sure they would prefer to not pay people to leave.

As long as Vicki is the CEO we will not lose the hybrid schedule and she has said as much. As far as a VSP I have heard some chatter of one, but anyone can start a rumor. If there were going to be a VSP I think it would be before the bonus payout because it would make a VSP look even better. Payout is early March, so up until then I guess anything could happen. Oxy is not a major, but it seems all the majors are cutting with layoffs such as Shell, BP, and Chevron. As well I have heard Conoco was going to have layoffs after the Marathon buyout.

there isn’t an upcoming VSP. Why do you assume that eliminating work from home, which isn’t happening either, is related to VSP. mo--n.
