Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

“ We are participating in a level of change within the company that many have never experienced before”

“ We are participating in a level of change within the company that many have never experienced before”!

Makes you wonder. Honestly 15-20% doesn’t sound that extreme, seems like we have done that before. Not sure this statement will make us all feel better.

Going into surgery soon “ you are participating in a surgery that most have never experienced before!” Just not sure that excites me.

i agree, probably around 40% cut in the US.

In IT, we have way too much non technical people and new CIO mentioned this needs to change.

If folks are not technical, most of the time they probably make busy work for others who can actually do real work and they push for checklists or documentation (IRM checklist, App Rat checklists, checklists for SNOW, Policy 564 checklists, compliance checklist, checklists) that looks like we are doing something for Chevron

Wow. 2015 was a downsizing event (when you have the permanent reserves of the Permian, what need do you have of anything else?). 2020 was a smoke-screen for getting rid of the Boomers, and I think the toll then was 15%. 20% of the now-reduced staff is REALLY going to hurt. I hope there's some semblance of Chevron remaining after this...

Management translation of OP's quote: we have lots and lots of career Chevronites who have never worked anywhere else, they're not prepared to be laid off, and many of them will be. It's a warning.

Stop pretending this isn't different or that it's just 15 to 20%. That's global headcount reduction.... Doesn't take into account BA Manilla and India. This is majorly different and will never be the same company

We're 1 tariff away from an end to Engine and other such schemes.

The flattening of the org and getting rid of BU's is where the biggest change is happening. Not just the layoffs.

15%-20% globally means up to 40% cut in the US with the hiring in India, Buenos Aires. I am not sure such cut in the US was done before

Translation: the industry is changing, and we see no way to continue our current operations, therefore we're downsizing. Same message 2015 and 2020.
