I don't know the extent nor if it's Canada wide. However many stores in British Columbia have had employees "laid off". This includes opticians and assistant managers. I've heard of some stores having multiple employees laid off and only having a few people left on staff (3-5). It's become extremely difficult to schedule and the employees still on staff are being worked even harder than usual. They have used the word "restructuring" to explain these "changes".
