Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

TP or not TP, that is the question

Montrose management are once again stringing on the workers saying that they should have an answer on the TP contract this month - exactly what they said in September. Now they are talking about shift changes, sending workers to Angola and Nigeria for the next 2 years or payoffs. Probably best to take the payoff if you ask me

The only shifting you will do is towards the exit door Pal. Wake up and smell the cheap instant coffee.

There’s no work because BH Management arrogantly believe that regular Customers will come back time and time again regardless of how badly they treat them.
The bottom line is that the market place has changed considerably over the last 5 years or so, & now Customers are more likely to look around at alternatives than just keep backing the same horse that they see is being flogged to death in an increasingly toxic environment.
I’ve always wondered why we have a sales Team at all, given that back in the day Happy Customers would practically throw contracts at our feet & were – for the greater part – happy with our products & associated services.
The fact that Montrose is still open at all, given the lack of work, suggests that BH have plans for the plant, but those plans may not involve doing any related work.
It's death by a thousand cuts I'm afraid, & things are only going in one direction.

Surely it's time to look at why there's no work - sales department and senior management?
The management hasn't changed in years and is still 'get the job out the door' mentality as well as treating customers and TPI's like sh£#e.
It appears the sales department would be better suited to sticking shelves in Pound land so time for a clear out there as well.

Training school closed.
Brent T&A closed.
EMT dept 3d printing closed.
CH Road machine shop closed.
Brent machine shop sold off.
Contractors gone.
Headcount reductions starting.
Redeployment permanent?
Looks like gradual wind down to me.

Now that the payoffs have started will there be more? There's not much work left for those guys that couldn't redeploy or just couldn't be bothered to redeploy. Who will be next?

Baker stock is doing well but only due to lay offs resulting in cost reductions. if and when the next bo-m happens they will be in a poor position to react as usual. they are a short term strategy company run by a bunch of monkeys

Behind the smokescreen the real agenda will be quietly progressing in the background. If there’s one thing this mob are good at it’s keeping things secret.
