Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

WHY the SILENCE? Because Why Bother?

It's quiet because the majority of folks have given up because nothing has or is changing !
Masarek boasted that he'd been talking to Avaya since May 22 so you'd think he'd have an actionable plan ready to go for when he joined but no he's wasted the last 2 months of FY22 and now we are almost into month 2 of FY23 and it's still the same old po-p show. The Worst is the noise from the investors! Ugh. They keep tagging evangelshxx as if he is an executive who can add 2+2. Yet another diseased marketing fail that they refuse to address.

All the incompetent USA leadership and International leadership are still in place and doing all they can to COVER their butts. Spears going is irrelevant-he's been invisible and useless since the day he joined

{Did anyone see the bizarre representation at the Gartner Event this week? My Fav was a slide she used that showed customer opinion based on a Avaya commissioned survey. Seriously? You anchor your talk on Avaya commissioned data to GARTNER? No wonder they laugh at Avaya! And the Cloud lady Chief Bully, she keeps dismissing opportunities as if she sits in an ivory tower and has customers knocking down her door, but she keeps getting promoted!}

The Q3 22 numbers are even worse than Marasarek thought and we haven't even got to the Q4 disaster.

As usual most front line sales folks still don't have quotas or updated account lists while having more job cuts hanging over their heads. And we have lost the best engineers and people who know how to get thbga done and help customers! Yet the BS artists remain!?!?

We are hemorrhaging good people to competitors over and above the redundancies and not replacing them and then you have a bunch of folks just waiting for month 13 and 14 comp and then they are gone.

Where are the employee survey results - I bet they suck big time.

Masareks first 90 days are a big big fail and it feels like he's blown his chance to do something special.

Avaya never fails to disappoint !!

It really boils down to this. Is A Aya Composable or Combustible?

Product Leadership -- BURN IT DOWN (she has had 18 lives. enough already)
Marketing -- BURN IT DOWN
Client Facing Engineers and Account Teams-- BUILD UP
Go find REAL Strategy. Strategic leaders who have a unique combo of telecom PLUS BIG TECH & Strategic Forecasting. People who can steer a realistic, actionable and successful plan. Don't hire for big names. Don't hire for big degrees. Don't hire to check a box to pretend Avaya has somehow arrived (for example, they hired Spears the check box on SaaS and Cloud. Yet he had zero telecom and didnt get it. Don't repeat that).
Hire DOERS. Smart people DOERS who know how to pivot, listen more than they speak, and know how to READ A ROOM.

GET RID OF ANYONE WHO WAS CELEBRATED under past CEO. THEY ARE TOXIC.

Throw away the empty minded marketing spokespeople. They are like characters from Michael Scotts (Steve Carrell) The Office. It is almost impossible to be that out-of-touch , yet they somehow always find a way. There is way too much promoting their personal brand and zero handle on what clients and partners are looking to hear.
At present, clients and partners want Avaya to simply be honest. To simply say, 'hey, cloud is not easy for us and this is why. we want to help you drive toward a cloud journey." NOT the continued smoke and mirrors that declare Avaya is ONE CLOUD everything!

And, for goodness sake, its beyond laughable about how how all the Avaya US marketing leadership just blindly repurposed the Dubai "partnership" announcements (Which were like some childish game of trying to break a goal of how many 'partnerships' they have signed) with ZERO understanding what any of the partnerships really mean.

Honeywell -- ONLY MIDDLE EAST
Meta -- SPECIFIC to ONE CLIENT in MIDDLE EAST
StarTec -- Was a SPOKEN client. Avaya acquired Spoken in 2018. StarTec was then acquired by an Asian Company. The partnership was shifted to the new Geographic region. Yet in the world of empty press releases and false partnership hope, Let's promote it as it is net new business.
Alcatel -- Lucent -- C'mon! Was this just a test to see who was paying attention? What is even the point???????

I agree that everyone has quiet quit. The workers that were very skilled and motivated have left either before or after the layoffs so they are not effected next and the older folks that are at/close to retired are just collecting paychecks and doing the bare minimum now since them getting let go will not effect them and they would just retire.

I think the sad part is seeing "Marketing/Evangelists" talk about how great Avaya is, traveling to every event/conference and saying our customers love us acting like nothing is going. Meanwhile, customers/partners ask me why is Avaya in this situation every few years where they are about to/going bankrupted or rumors of being sold.

The only thing the new CEO has done since joining is lay people off and attempt to mandate 3-5 days a week in the office.
