Heard there might be another VSP from a co-worker who was told by what they think is a good source. They were not sure if it was across all BU’s, or what age limit. Anyone else been hearing anything?

Don’t know if it’s worth hanging out for the next 10 years. That would put you at 75. Are you planning on living to 100? Of course if you need the money there is no substitute for a steady paycheck seeing that the stock market is not dependable from year to year.
@xb+1jkxmgkg2 I am over 65 and would take the 6 months, but my goal is to reach 10 years and qualify for the retiree Aetna insurance to supplement Medicare which only pays 80%. I have 16 months to go for that, so I am trying to hold on.
To the person who is 65, with 10 years at OXY, and asking for two years of severance... you must be kidding. You should be thrilled with six months.
For employees w close to or at ten years and >age 65 please offer two years. And I will take it.
Wow @pv... Leadership/goals starts at the top and should be aligned down to the staff in an effective organization... Blaming this mess on the worker bees is ridiculous.. I think you are a Russian bot trying to stir things up ;-)
I don’t think we should blame mgmt for the failures of the company, it’s definitely the individual contributors fault for not working harder, longer and making better power points. I would fire all the rowers, and just leave the cox that way the boat has very strong leadership (looking at an empty boat) and no one to keep it moving. That would solve all the issues
@mz+1, well said from someone who can’t make it into the management ranks.
It would be better to get rid of two layers of management- and flatten the organization. There isn’t a need for a VP, directors and another level of middle layer mgmt. There are not enough staff to work the projects as it is now, and the lord knows 90% of mgmt couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag.
Well, I heard we are going to have a VSP a very reliable source -- my mother's sister-in-law who heard it from her hairdresser who was told we were going to have a VSP by her first cousin, thrice removed, who works as a night watchman at an auto dealership in Paris (Kentucky, not Texas).
Yep, that is about as reliable as the rest of these predictions are.
Then what are they going do with the workforce. They are not moving the stock at all. A lot an be accomplished with letting go of just one person. Guess who that is.
Absolutely no truth in this rumor.
A good lay-off is better at this point than a VSP. In one afternoon you can get rid of a lot of people and boost the moral of those left. Yes, the survivors will really think they are better than those let go. You don’t need counseling for those left just reward them with a great bonus. In a while they will forget about their former coworkers anyway. Besides by doing a lay-off the CEO and management send the message of power which every professional worker loves. The message “ I control you and you don’t have a say in it”really goes over big.
Not happening.
What you lose in a VSP are skilled, experienced professionals who take the money and move shops or cash out and retire. Was working at Amoco during their first VSP in the late 1980's. Amoco had to pull back the offer because they were losing their best staff; the ones they wanted to leave dug in were severed later.
