Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Workload

Can anyone provide advice on how to manage the always growing number of overlapping meetings? Also, it seems the norm is to accept hundreds of unread emails each month and move on. Has it always been this way?

Roles don’t match job postings. Lack of a real job description allows managers to pile work onto unprepared and unsupported teams. This is why employees break. This is why performance measures are laughable. This allows so-called leaders to blame employees for shortcomings that were never clearly defined. This is why there’s no real accountability for failures at every turn. This is why 3M has a toxic culture. Well done 3M HR!

Accomplish what you can between 8 and 5. Anything that doesn't get done doesn't get done. If the company can't give its teams and employees the resources needed to do the work, that's not your problem. The days of being rewarded for going above and beyond were left in the 90s.
