Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Time to shake things up

Nielsen needs to keep trimming the fat, especially those managers and directors who’ve been coasting for decades. How do these folks even manage to stick around, adding zero value but dodging every layoff? It’s wild. Bring in some fresh, skilled talent. People who actually know what they’re doing. The old guard’s had their run, now it’s time for new blood to step up and make things happen.

And then there is evil Karthik and his hordes of he-l on top controlling everything.

WE made it happen, they shout.

Under them the legacy of companies with once cool products - eradicated.

And shame on the MRC for accepting this nonsense.

Nielsen's system is very rigid and inflexible. And they believe they are right in being this way. Because, perhaps---

Being "narrow" is a self-destructive trend that they are following born of the American business community. Companies want original product without doing the work involved to optimize/expand/improve the businesses. i.e. productivity for free!

Hopefully the industry will grow out of this fairly quickly. It's neither mature nor healthy. I don't blame Nielsen per se but rather the way the current "gravy train feed bag" operates nationally.

I do think a 100 year old company should be able to see past it and perhaps... they will, in time. Best wishes.

They are friends and protect each other. It doesn’t matter how qualified they are for their position, or what they contribute.

Seriously? The only ‘new blood’ will be represented by the GCC’s. Anybody who expects or hopes for anything else is delusional….

The old guard’s final act was to downsize as many jobs as possible and combine duties, then ship those jobs overseas to get one final payday.

There is no new blood stepping up because there will be nothing to step up to. Collecting data will be done through websites requesting volunteers. Aggregating that data and producing reports will be automated. Entities that want a report centered to their needs will use online tools to decide what to see from the options available, and the process will be monitored by people overseas where they can pay 15¢ an hour.

Clients have been developing their own tools because Nielsen has refused to evolve with the times, and now it is being left behind. We are seeing the final stage, where the people at the top take their individual lifeboats and sail off, watching everyone else sink on the metaphorical titanic.
