Midwest DC 299 is folding their weekend shift. By June everyone has to decide which weekday shift they want. But that they are mainly pushing the night shift. They said there is room for everyone, but no one believes that.

Part of it is probably retention. But either way management really sc--wed some people over with little to know, concern over how it would affect them. They did not even go through the basic "we had to make a hard choice" or anything to that effect. They are not offering any sort of severance for the people affected. Besides C shift made the best numbers of any shift, so naturally they got rid of it. A common expression in DC 299 is the "Nordy way - if it makes sense you are doing it wrong", let me say they really lived up to it this time.
Our DC has more than enough freight to keep the shift it's the retention of people not wanting to work three 12 hours days and having to pay them $2/extra that's the issue. We are currently on Voluntary OT again.
Business has slowed down. It’ll pick up by March. Company saves money in all varies ways. Managers don’t want to see associates standing around doing nothing or just on their phone. You gotta look busy if you want to stay in business
