Queen’s Hospital Layoffs

My cousin works(ed) at queens for over 20 years. Just got layed off. My cousin said more than 40 people are being let go this week.

I worked at Queen's for 30+ years and this will be the 3rd time experiencing large layoffs. Truly a shock the manner in which it was conducted this time. Then I reflect on who are our current executive/senior leaders compared to those who proceeded them. A sign of the times, in fact if anyone implies we are an ohana...I would challenge them if they understood what that means.

Still in shock. This has to be against the WARN - act. Mass layoffs by law are not legal in Hawaii, Requires 60 day warning.

Our ohana was also blindsided by these layoffs. Unbelievable considering there is such a need for physicians and people work so hard to get back to the islands and for something like this to happen. Despicable.

This is sad! It's bad enough to to fired but then to add the shame of being escorted by security. This is not aloha! This is extremely sad! Folks who are doing this have no respect or thought of the consequences of their actions! Auwe!!!

All job types being affected. No warning just bamboozling folks with mysterious email invite. Security set up around building. No one letting people know coworkers or other departments being eliminated. When asking HR they claim this is not “‘mass layoff”

In addition to lay offs whole departments are being shut down, including sports medicine at queens west. I heard there’s going to be a town hall meeting tonight for employees, anyone and working for Queens should attended and organize. This all seems shady to me.

I have heard it’s over 80 people (managers, medical assistants, physicians, etc).

I was one of those people. No warning, no nothing and to top it off, no one bothered to inform my co-workers, so I was getting work calls today. I had to tell them I was let go.
