Fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the future of the company is having visible and palpable effects on morale. It might not be obvious to upper management but the lack of information regarding the IPO/sale is a huge drain on energy and motivation. More and more, the collective angst and depression is discussed openly. And, no, the AMA didn't help.

There’s no good answer. Unfortunately SAS revenues are declining against costs. So SAS must cut costs, and attrition serves that purpose.
Regarding the lack of information: SAS could do a 100% IPO, a partial IPO, an IPO with a private equity partner, or a private sale. If the market tanks, they may do none of the above.
All these options are on the table. So management may not be hiding their plans; they probably just don’t know.
I'm sure upper management knows but they won't address it because there is no answer to give. Ultimately, the Big Guy has to make the decision. Until then, morale will continue to decline, good people will leave and all that will be left are the same people who have been here forever, waiting for a VRBP that will never happen.

I believe that’s an “Ask Me Anything” session, presumably by one of the SAS executives.
Fear of the unknown is universal. The founders certainly must share that fear. Let's hope so.
The only present known is they won't be involved with SAS for the next five years as the previous five years. Of course that affects employees. That equates to change being a known. Forget about the SAS of yester years, the glory years pre the mistake called Viya. Only remember them to help yourself stay on track with your plan.
